Dorothy Adella (Rice) Spurlock was born September 27, 1925 in Dewey County, South Dakota. She was adopted by Hiram and Gertrude Rice who had a family of 7 Boys. She grew up in Dewey County, Timberlake South Dakota attending grade school through high school and then went on to Bible College in Chehalis Washington.. Dorothy was a very humble woman with humble beginnings. She had a strong quiet strength about her that she emulated throughout her life. She met the Love of her life, Roy Kenneth Spurlock, and they married in 1953 She built her family around her love of God, Country and Family. Roy and Dorothy had 7 children, Dorothy Ann, Rodney, Rhonda, Trudy, Steven, Bruce, and Brian. Dorothy had 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She taught us to love, and care for all. Dorothy is preceded in death by Roy in 1983, Rhonda in 2006, Rodney 2010, Brian 2013, and her grandson Kenny in 2014. We’re sure she had a great family reunion in the sky the day she left us, February 4th in the early am hours. She passed peacefully with a smile on her face in a loving family home. Her last day on earth was spent sipping a root beer and gazing at the sunset from Arbor Crest listening to Roy Rogers sing "Happy Trails", just the way she wanted it! Happy Trails to you Dorothy, until we meet again! We love you! Memorial services will be held February 25th at 10:00am, at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th, Spokane Valley, WA.
