Freda was born at Levant, Maine on 16 February 1928 to Zelma and Homer Hodgdon. She attended school in Levant and graduated from Bangor High School. After high school, she went to work for the Rudman Beverage Co. as an assistant bookkeeper where she stayed employed until leaving for France in 1955. Freda met Dale Cooper who was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in 1953 and after a courtship they married in April of 1954. In 1955, Dale was transferred to Laon Air Base in France, where Freda joined him and they resided there for 4 years. They were blessed with the birth of two sons, during their stay in France. Upon return to the U.S.A., Dale was assigned to Fairchild AFB at Spokane, where they have resided since 1959. Freda was an excellent dress maker and many brides, L.O.S. and O.E.S. ladies were attired in her gown creations all over Washington. She was an active member in both Order of Eastern Star and Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She had attended Grand Chapter Sessions of O.E.S. in WA, Oregon, Idaho, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, and Australia. Washington Grand Chapter had honored her as a Grand Representative. She had also attended Supreme Council Sessions of L.O.S. in Anchorage, Alaska and Casper, Wyoming; these were times of meeting old friends and making new ones. She was a 50 year member of L.O.S. and life member of O.E.S. Freda was a dedicated attendee at First Baptist Church and later Fourth Memorial. Freda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by husband, Dale; son, Robert of Spokane and son, Richard, daughter-in-law, Keita, granddaughters, Terah, Alaina, and Cassie of North Idaho; and nieces and nephews in S. Dakota and Maine. Memorial services will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N Division, Spokane, WA, on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 3:00 P.M.
