Jeannine A. Fohlen

October 28, 1928 — August 4, 2009

Jeannine Fohlen passed gracefully out of this world and into the arms of her Savior on August 4, 2009. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-love, and friend. She brought a sense of style and grace to our family that was uniquely Jeannine. She was born Jeannine Nelson to Roland and Gleva (Goodrich) Nelson on October 28, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with a degree in English Literature in May 1949. She married DeEstan F. Turner in Sioux City on May 27, 1948. They moved to Dubuque, Iowa in June 1951 where they raised their 3 children: CynDee, Eloise and Doug. They moved to Orange, CA in August 1963 where Jeannine became an executive assistant and eventually a buyer of china, glass and silver for Bullock’s Department Stores. In 1981 she married Frank Christensen, who preceded her in death in 1987. In 1993 she married Robert Fohlen of Sonoma, CA, who preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived and loved by her 3 children: CynDee (Neil) Aerts; Eloise (Keith) Hartsuiker; and Doug (Karen) Turner; grandchildren: Tiffani Aerts, Trevor (and April) Aerts, Travis Aerts; Adam Hartsuiker, Amanda Hartsuiker; DeEstan Turner; great-grand-daughter, Ellie Rae Hartsuiker; sisters-in-love, Eloise (Turner) Welch and Theodora (Turner) Lottig-Kasch; children-in-love: Frank Christensen, Jr., Debra (Christensen) Dix; Brenda(Christensen) Toering; dearest brother-in-love, George Fohlen, Jeff Fohlen, Melanie (Fohlen) Kramme, Michelle (Fohlen) White; grandchildren-in-love J.D. Dix, who preceded her to heaven, Christopher Fohlen, and Adam White and her treasured pug, Mei-Ling. She was a woman of fashion and style, always dressed for the occasion. She saw herself as an Auntie Mame character: flamboyant, generous and compassionate, always ready to help those she loved to achieve their dreams. She will be greatly missed and always live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her magnetic personality. Memorial Service will held on Saturday, September 5th 3:00 p.m. at Northview Bible Church 13521 North Mill Road Spokane, WA 99208 (509) 466-1770 office@nbcspokane.org.
