Evelyn Marie Merrill

Evelyn Marie Merrill, 91, passed away on, April 4th, 2017 at Good Samaritan Care Center in Spokane WA. She was born on July 3rd, 1925 in Spokane to Otto and Mabel Pohle. Evelyn graduated from North Central in 1944. After high school she worked at the Crescent Department Store until her marriage. Evelyn married Merten Merrill in 1946 in Spokane. They were happily married for 53 years until his death. They owned and operated the Merrill Inn first in Hillyard and then on North Division for nearly 50 years. She was the hostess and he was the cook along with their son Randy. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Merten and son Randy. Evelyn is survived by her son, Dan and spouse Caron in Spokane and daughter, Crystal Johnson and spouse Fred in Vancouver WA; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA, in their chapel on Tuesday, April 11th, at 11 am. Viewing can occur on Monday, April 10th, between 9am and 5pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations can be given to St. Peters Lutheran Church or Good Samaritan Society of Spokane Valley. The family will have a reception at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 4620 N. Regal St., Spokane, WA, following the service. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA, following the reception at 2:30pm.
