HOLLIDAY, Marie Barbara (age 94) – Entered peacefully into rest on August 19, 2017 in Spokane. Marie was born in Odessa, WA, on May 9,1923 and was the youngest child of Andreas and Pauline Schaal. Marie attended schools in Lind, WA., but left at the age of 14 to support her widowed father and younger brother and sister at home. She later worked at the Palace Department Store in Spokane, but her favourite place of work was the United Pacific Insurance Company where she worked until her marriage to Uhel “Babe” Holliday in 1960. Babe was a T/Sgt in the USAF and Marie enjoyed travelling with him throughout the States until his retirement in 1963 when they settled in Spokane. Marie lived in the area for over 70 years and was a devoted member of Fowler United Methodist Church, including the UMW. She also enjoyed her Senior Bowling League, gardening, needlework, and visiting with her many friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Babe, in 2004. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Dale Viles of Cromer, England; grand-daughter and grandson-in-law, Olivia and Kai Shepherd; and grandsons, Jacob and Daniel Viles. A public memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 1:00pm at Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard, Spokane, WA, with Pastor Sue Robinson officiating.
