Robert DeArth, age 87, passed away Saturday, October 10th, 2009 at Morton, WA. Bob was born August 6, 1922 in Spokane, WA. He was adopted by Frank E. and Inga Anna (Meland) DeArth. His parents lived on a farm near Marshall and he went to school in Cheney. In December 1942 he joined the Army-Air Force, 4th Ferry Command. Bob took radio training and went to gunnery school. While on leave in Spokane, Bob proposed and married Elaine Sorensen, daughter of Peter and Mary (Borud) Sorensen of Five-Mile area. Elaine joined Bob in Tampa, Fla. Migraine headaches caused problems with his eyes. After a medical discharge, the couple made their home in Spokane. They had two sons, Ron and Arnie. One summer, Bob built his family a new home on Providence Street. Bob enjoyed fishing, automobiles, working with tools of all kinds, and snow-birding in Yuma, AZ. He was a member of the Lilac Caravaners Club and the Eagles. Bob was preceded in death by wife, Elaine, son Arnold, and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by son Ronald and Brenda DeArth, daughter-in-law Angie DeArth, six grandchildren: Bret & Lisa DeArth, Stacie Rudick, Alicia DeArth, Kendra DeArth, Joseph DeArth, and Bobbi DeArth, and 10 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N Division, Spokane on Tuesday, Oct 27th at 1 pm.
