Joyce Allman Miller

Joyce, A. Miller (age 95) a 28 year resident of Spokane, entered into rest on October 20, 2009. She was born on May 17, 1914 in Wanganui, New Zealand. Joyce graduated from college in Auckland, New Zealand with a degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse in the Kendu Miss Bay Hospital in Africa, also helping to manage the hospital there. Joyce married Harold A. Miller in 1943, and together made College Place, WA their home. She worked as a nurse at Walla Walla General Hospital and at local nursing homes, retiring in 1985 after over 40 years of service. Joyce was a member of Ski Club of New Zealand, Nurses Association of Washington, and the College Place Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed skiing, rock hounding, camping, hiking, fishing, motorcycling, knitting, sewing, and volunteering. Joyce is survived by her sons, James E. Miller his wife and two daughters of Anchorage, Alaska and Arthur R. Miller his wife and daughter of Spokane, WA; and her brother, Clifford Marchant of Wellington, New Zealand, 2 great grandchidlren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her loving husband Harold, preceded her in death in 1974. The announcement of a graveside memorial service to be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place, WA will be made in the spring.
