(age 84) A long time resident of Spokane entered into rest on November 7, 2009. Ed was born on August 7, 1925 to parents Jacob and Caroline Heine in Grand Forks, ND where he lived until he entered the service during WWII. Ed served aboard the USS Independence as a 1st Class aviation electrician until the end of the war. He married his only sweetheart, Donna Kriesel, on November 20, 1945 and together they raised their four children. Ed worked for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad as a Terminal Manager for many years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church and volunteered with the Spokane Auxiliary Police Department for over 15 years. His hobby was building lawn swings, of which he would donate a swing every year to the Orchard Prairie School for their fundraiser. Ed is survived by his loving wife Donna of 64 years; sons, Dennis (Lindy) and Gene Heine; daughters, DeeDee (Rick) and Joely (Monte); nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. “You will always be in our hearts.” Donations may be made to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 4320 S.
