Carolyn I. Joy passed away suddenly on November 13, 2009. Born March 5, 1940 in Mason City, WA to Charles A. Perkins and Leah Jean Lace, both deceased. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Joy of 41 years; her children, Daniel Joy of Spokane, Eugene Perkins of California; step daughter, Patricia Joy of Spokane; grandchildren, Abbigayle Joy of Spokane, James, Nick and Charles Perkins of California, her siblings; Patricia Griffith and husband, Ralph of Moses Lake, and Jim Truax and wife, Kris of Lacey and numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother Charles Perkins, Jr. She attended Grand Coulee Primary School and graduated Grand Coulee High School in 1958. She attended Wenatchee Valley College and studied nursing. She worked at Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee for a time and then moved to Spokane in 1961. Carolyn married William on November 30, 1968. She worked for numerous medical offices during her active working career. She enjoyed many sports, including: hockey, baseball, Nascar, and especially Gonzaga basketball. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, politics, travel, and most of all her family. She was a very active and involved member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She and her husband coached Jack and Jill soft ball teams for several years. She belonged to the Eagles Lodge, TOPS, and the American Bowling Congress. A visitation will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 from 12:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 5:00 PM at Riplinger Funeral Home, 4305 N. Division. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1104 W. Heroy, Spokane, WA.
