Ronald W. Gerkensmeyer

Was born April 27, 1933 in Spokane, Washington and passed away November 26, 2009 in Spokane. Loving son of William and Laura Gerkensmeyer of Spo - kane, Ron was a 1951 gradu - ate of North Central High School. He joined Western Electric upon graduation from high school, followed by service in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He married Evelyn Duclos of Cottonwood, Ida - ho, January 19, 1957. He was employed by the City of Spokane Water Depart ment, first as a meter reader, then as an accounts collector, for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Darlene Frye. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, son and daughter-in-law Michael Gerkensmeyer, and Laura Wright and grandchildren Samantha and Alexander of Deer Park, WA, daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Mark Nelsen and grandchildren Anthony and William of Spokane, WA; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Barbie Gerkensmeyer and grandchildren Kadie and Jonathan Knoop and Aden Gerkensmeyer of Spokane, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. William Brown, the doctors and staff of Cancer Care N.W. and Franklin Hills Rehabilitation Center for their loving and thoughtful care. Services will be held Saturday, December 5th at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1104 W. Heroy, Spokane, WA, officiated by Rev. Michael Blackburn. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either the Poor Clare Monastery, 4419 N.
