Patricia Ann Johnson, aged 92, died peacefully on March 16, 2018 at the Academy Assisted Living Facility where she had resided for the past three years. Patricia was born April 17, 1925, in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Francis E. Bertsch and Ann M. (Bradley)Bertsch. Patricia is survived by her sister, Colleen Bertsch; and Pat’s three children she had while married to Francis W. Agnes (deceased). Daughter Kathleen M. (Agnes) Freeman (Thomas); sons, David W. Agnes and Gregory S. Agnes (Cherie), step-children Teresa (Johnson) Brown and Christopher Johnson 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is survived by loving nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild and a host of lifelong friends. Pat also leaves behind wonderful care-giver friends at the Academy Assisted Living whose love and care for her went above and beyond. She was preceded in death by her parent’s , brother John F. (Jack) Bertsch and sister Mary E. (Betty) Caya. Pat attended St. Francis of Assisi Grade School and graduated from Holy Names Academy. Throughout her life Pat enjoyed her family, athletics and the outdoors. She bowled and played softball well into her 50’s. She was a lifelong fan of baseball, football and basketball. Her last few years Pat could usually be found watching the Zags, Seahawks or Mariners on TV or winning at bingo. She loved chocolate (especially dark) and music and knew the words to every song she’d ever heard. Her children grew up with the radio in the kitchen always on and turned to a country station. In 1976, Patricia married Christopher A. Johnson (deceased). She and Chris spend many happy years wintering in sunny Arizona. In 2011 they hung up their snowbird wings and moved into The Academy Retirement Community which they jokingly called “God’s Waiting Room”. She was widely loved and famous for her quick wit and sense of humor. She had more one liners than Henny Youngman. A Rosary will be said at The Franciscan Monastery of Saint Clare,4419 N. Hawthorne St.,Friday March 23, 2018 at 6:00. Funeral Mass is at St. Aloysius Catholic Church,330 E Boone, Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 12:30. In lieu of flowers please remember Hospice of Spokane, 1212 S Arthur St. They were ever present providing comfort and peace in Patricia's final day's.
