Doris J. Variano

Doris Jean Siekerman Variano was born February 18, 1934 in Spokane, WA and went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2010. Doris was the daughter of Dominic and Florence Veter who preceded her in death. Also preceding Doris in death were, her first husband Richard Siekerman, her second husband Mike Variano; two sons, Robert Siekerman and Donald Siekerman; brother, Ron Veter; sister, Irene Montagna; and son-in-law, Gary Gilbrech. Doris is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Michael)Welch, Terry Siekerman – Gilbrech, Gina (Dan) Schumacher; stepdaughters, Marlene Rizzuto and Connie Hardy; grandchildren, Christina, Nicholas, Alex, Sami Jo, Dylan, Kandra, Preston, Sophia, San D, Ginger, Don, Dustin, Brittany, Kody, Sara, and Aurora; brothers, Don (Connie) Veter of Spokane and Dennis (Jane) Veter of Spokane; sisters, Linda Oltman of Spokane, Nancy (John) Bymers of Florida, and Judy (Terry) Doherty of Richland, WA; sister-in-law, Kay Veter of Spokane; brother-in-law, Tony Montagna of New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1474 Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered for many years with her dear friends, and called bingo there for many years. She also worked for the People to People Ambassadors Program for 10 years. Doris loved family, friends, socializing and volunteering. She will be missed by all and remembered most for being a strong courageous lady. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM and Friday from 12:00PM noon to 8:00PM at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA. Funeral service will held in the Chapel of Flowers at Riplinger Funeral Home beginning at 11:00AM Saturday, April 24, 2010 with interment immediately following the service at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held at the VFW Post 51 300 W. Mission from 1:00PM – 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Doris’s name to the “Ladies Auxiliary” VFW Post 1474 PO Box 6465 Spokane, WA 99217.
