Betty A. Sauer

October 23, 1923 — May 7, 2010

Betty A.(Pederson)Sauer (age 86 ½) passed away on May 7, 2010 and joined her husband Clifford. They are together forever. Betty was born in a log cabin in Ismay, MT on October 23, 1923 to Hannah (Tesness) and Martin Pederson, she was their first of 5 children. Her family moved to Spokane when Betty was about 11 years old. She attended Hamilton Elementary and Rogers High School, where she was a member of the Pirates Marching Unit and acted in many musical plays. While in high school, Betty worked as a live-in caretaker for many families. During WWII, she worked at a candy company, Luse Wilds Bisquit Co., White Pine Box Co., and Brewers Lumber. It was while working at Brewers Lumber, Betty met the love of her life, Clifford Sauer. They were married on May 23, 1946 in Ritzville, WA and were later blessed with four beautiful and loving daughters. Betty and Cliff were married for 48 years before his passing in 1994. Betty was a talented artist and illustrator. She loved nature, reading, gardening, but most of all, her family. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; brothers, Melvin Pederson and Walter Pederson; and her sister, Verna Conover. She is survived by her sister, Thelma (Pederson) Taylor; and all her children, Gloria (David) Baldwin, Carolyn (Bernie) Youngblut, Cheryl (Glen) Pierce, and Cindy Violett; five sister in-laws; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She taught us how to pray and WE WILL TRULY MISS OUR LITTLE MOM. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 11 from 12:00 noon to 8:00PM and on Wednesday, May 12 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. Funeral service will begin at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in the Sunset Chapel on the grounds of Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery 5200 W. Wellesley Ave.
