Evelyn Arvish Ciallella Baumiller was born on August 16, 1917 in Blackfoot, ID and passed away on June 12, 2010 in Spokane, WA. She moved with her family to Anaconda, MT, where she grew up. As a child, Evelyn spent many days sliding in the slag piles from the Smelter and helping in the family garden. Her favorite times were with her mother, brothers, and sisters when they would climb to the top of the hills, spending the whole day watching the clouds go by, and sleeping on the top of the hills, watching the stars all night. One of her favorite stories was when her Dad and the family would go to the mountains to mine for gold. She and her brother Andy would ride the running boards of their old touring car and would shoot rabbits for dinner. What a girl she was. All those childhood things made her the person she was later in life, exciting, loving, and adventurous. Evelyn married Ermilio Ciallella in Anaconda. MT in 1941 and later they moved to Spokane for work, during the WPA days. She got a job at Galena Air Force Base driving the officers around the base and then later went to work in the Janitorial Union in Spokane until she retired. Evelyn never had her own children, but touched the lives of many children that lived in her neighborhood, Jimmy, Billy and numerous other children. When the boys joined the military, she took all of their wives, along with Andy’s wife, to live with her as they waited for the boys to come home from the service. She had a long and happy relationship with all of her “family,” as she called them. Evelyn lost her loving Ermilio, in 1971. She later met and married John Baumiller in 1975. They lived on Hoodoo Mountain in Idaho. They built a cabin on top of the mountain and spent many happy days together. They loved fishing, trips to Alaska, and hunting trips in the fall to the mountains. They would spend their winters at the home she loved so much at Eloika Lake. After Johns’ passing in 1985, Evelyn continued staying at the lake. She would watch beautiful sunsets from her window, enjoyed her friends, family, and all the wildlife around the lake. Evelyn leaves behind one brother, Andy Arvish and half-brother, Albert Arvish; stepbrother and sister, Bev and Buster of Anaconda, MT; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Also left behind are daughters, Barbara Sires, and Kathy Munk; son, Dan Baumiller; grandchildren, Shane and Dennis Anstadt, Julie Batterson; and also her granddaughter and grandson who gave her unconditional love, lived and cared for her, Laura and Darren Anderson. There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 24, 2010 beginning at 1:00PM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd. Spokane, WA.
