Georgia C. Winn

Georgia Carlotta Winn, age 101, celebrated the 4th of July by joining her husband and daughter, brothers and sister in Heaven. Georgia was born in Pullman, WA on December 11, 1908 to George and Maude Grimes. She attended grade and high school in Pullman and attended Washington State College where she was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She worked for the Washington Water Power Company where she met her husband of 41 years, Loris A. Winn. They were married in Spokane on May 26, 1938. During her husband's career with Washington Water Power Company they lived in Pullman, Davenport and Spokane. They had one daughter, Moffett Winn born in 1943. Grimes Way, on the campus of Washington State University is named after her father George C. Grimes a long time WSU employee. She loved to read, walk and spend time with her sister, Burnette Jones and family at Priest Lake in the summers. She is a long time member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Loris in 1979 and daughter Moffett in 2010 and her sister Burnette (Kennard) Jones of Spokane, brothers Kester Grimes of Pullman and Kermit (Claudia) Grimes of Portland OR. She is survived by her sister-in law, Dorothy Grimes (102) in Pullman, nephews Barry (Carole) Jones of Spokane, Dennis (Mary Lou) Jones of Sammamish WA, Gary (Gail) Grimes of Dundee, OR, Jon (Charlena) Grimes and David Grimes of Pullman, niece Judy Jones of Spokane. grand nephews and nieces, Scott (Vicki) Jones, Craig (Cathy) Jones, Todd (Wendy) Jones, Lora Lee Walter all of Spokane and Julie (Tom) Hungate of Pullman and Mark Holl in Arizona, Jeffery (Nicole) Grimes, Lincoln (Sophia) Grimes in Oregon, Anna Beth Weber in New York City, Jo Lynn (Don) Lochabay and Jereme (Jason) Tobias in Texas and Jennifer (Brian) Croft in California, 26 great grand nephews and nieces, special loving friends, Jane Crowley and Verna Eucher and the caring staff of St. Joseph Care Center-Garden Level where she has lived the past 6 years. At Georgia's request, no funeral service will be held, A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of cards and flowers, the family would suggest that contributions be made to the Grimes Family Endowment, Washington State University Foundation, PO Box 641925, Pullman WA 99164-1925, the St. Joseph Care Center-Garden Level, 17 E 8th Ave, Spokane WA 99202 or a charity of your choice.
