Clyde W. Parkert

Clyde W. Parkert(age 88) entered into rest on July 6, 2010. He was born April 27, 1922 in Hooper, Nebraska to parents, William and Johanna Parkert. Clyde graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1939 and from Kansas State University with a Masters Degree in Chemistry in 1949. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII as an Ordinance Specialist Machinist. Clyde married his loving wife of 60 years, Ilavere (Sue) Oldfield in 1950. They have lived in the Spokane Valley for over 54 years and that is where they raised their family. Clyde worked as a rolling mill lubrication engineer at Kaiser Aluminum until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed scouting, square dancing, and reading Chemistry Journal and he was a member of the American Chemical Society of which he earned the 50 Year Membership Award. Clyde is survived by his wife, Sue (Ilavere); son, Gary (Julie) Parkert of Buckley, WA; daughters, Cheryl (Robert) Vasse of Huntsville, AL and Yvonne (Jeff) Lorenz of Hillsborough, NJ; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Opportunity Presbyterian Church 202 N. Pines Rd. in the Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made in Clyde's name to the Boy Scouts of America Inland NW Council 411 W. Boy Scout Way Spokane, WA 99201.
