Thelma completed her life’s journey on August 13th, 2010. She was born in Beulah, North Dakota on November 16th, 1920. At the age of 3, she moved to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho with her family where her father worked as a lumberjack. When Thelma was 6, they moved to Ione, Washington where she completed her childhood years. After graduating valedictorian at Ione High School in 1938, she moved to Spokane to go to business school. She met Edward Bloom at a dance hall downtown and they married in December of 1941. They move to the Bloom family farm in the Montfort area north of Spokane. Thelma was a 4-H leader for a long time. She and Ed started the flea market idea in Spokane in the 1960s. They were active with the Deer Park Fair Association. She was a long term member of the Half Moon Women’s Club and was one of the first board members of the Montfort School Community Club. Thelma loved horses, working in her garden, feeding and visiting with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son Earl (Glenda), Los Altos, CA, daughter Kathy Millick (Paul) of Spokane, WA, daughter, Bonnie Pierce (Bill) of Vancouver, WA and Joleen Bloom of Spokane, WA. Along with 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, August 16, 2010, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. at Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 9:00AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division, Spokane, WA, with Pastor Jim Barrington officiating. Private burial will follow at the Wayside Cemetery. In Thelma’s honor, a reception for all will be held at 11:00 AM at the Montfort School Community Center.
