Pauline Kassa Blixt passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2010 at Holy Family Hospital surrounded by her husband, children, granchildren, brothers and sister. Born on September 1, 1943 to Edward and Pearl Kassa, she was a lifelong resident of Spokane, graduating from Rogers High School in 1961. She married Myron (Sonny) Blixt in September of 1962 and had three children. Polly was also a longtime employee of Mead School District, serving in various positions ranging from playground attendant to head cook until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Myron, at home; son, John of Maplewood, NJ; daughers, Brenda Baum and Christine Tichacek, both of Spokane; grandchildren, Lindsay, Gregg, Joel, Kaitlyn, Charles, and Ann; great-grandchild, Carrson. She is also survived by brothers, Virgil, David, and Robert Kassa; as well as sister, Marilyn (Susie) Lindley, all of Spokane. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W St. Thomas More Way, Spokane, WA. Urn placement will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowes, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
