ZAPPONE, Richard Francis “Dick” (age 80) – Our cherished father passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2010. He donned his angel’s wings in his home at Clare Bridge. Dad was surrounded by his children and his amazing family of caregivers who all loved him beyond words. His wife of 57 years, Jeanne Zappone, preceded him in death in June of 2010. He was born January 29, 1930 to John Joseph and Marie Zappone in Lewistown, MT. He was their seventh child in the family of eight, 4 boys and 4 girls. His sister, Regina and brother, Bob, are still on this earth and wishing farewell to their little brother. Dad has 4 children – Dick Zappone, Jr of Coulee City, WA; Marie and Frank Farmer, Seattle, WA; Linda and Brad Emch, Spokane, WA; and Theresa and Mike Stone, Spokane, WA. His 14 grandchildren and 16+ great grandchildren are a legacy he will always treasure. There are many nieces and nephews far and wide who cherish the loving memory of “Uncle Dick”. His love of life, family and especially children will always be remembered. He enjoyed all the small things life has to offer. Dad shared in many ways most visible in his time of providing joy in the form of a clown. His pride of country is beyond compare having served in the Korean War for the United States Air Force. To be reunited with the love of his life free of all illness and disease is the best gift God could give him. They are dancing in each other’s arms again. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor for the troubled journey he traveled. Rosary service will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at 6PM at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1320 W Montgomery (corner of Cedar & Montgomery), Spokane, WA, with Rev. Joachim Hien. Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.
