Van passed away suddenly on September 21, 2010. A long time resident of Deer Park, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie, and children, David and Michele (Tim) McCollough, his granddaughter Brianna, brother Larry, and sister Joann Fishwhick. His son Alan precedes him in death. He was born March 22, 1933 in Brookville, Pa. He served with the United States Army for 6 yrs overseas in Korea and Peru. During his enlistment he trained as an electrician to later go on to work on oil turbines for BP in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, where he retired from in 1988. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and had taught Hunter’s safety. He enjoyed hunting, oil painting, do-it-yourself projects and spending time with family. Graveside services will be held Tuesday September 28th at 2pm at The Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing will be held prior, 9 AM til 12:30 PM at Riplinger Funeral Home.
