“The Watcher” She always leaned to watch for us, anxious if we were late, In winter by the window, in summer by the gate; And though we mocked her tenderly, who had such foolish care, The long way home would seem more safe because she waited there. Her thoughts were all so full of us, she never could forget! And so I think that where she is she must be watching yet, Waiting till we come home to her, anxious if we are late- Watching from Heaven’s window, leaning from Heaven’s gate. By Margaret Widdemer Nesbitt, Evelyn A. (age 83) went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 24, 2010. She was born to William and Ragna DesRosier in Helena, MT on February 1, 1927. Evelyn graduated from Helena High School in 1945. She became an RN after attending Washington State University and St. Luke’s Hospital. Evelyn married Gene Nesbitt on October 2, 1948 and they were married for 51 years before Genes’ passing on November 24, 1999. She worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and at Sharon Arms Nursing Home until Gene and Evelyn decided it would be better for her to stay home with the children. Evelyn was an active member at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. Family always came first with Evelyn and she was an awesome Mother and Grandmother. Some of her favorite things to do were camping, bowling, and working in the yard. She especially liked to play bingo and go to the casinos. Gene and Evelyn went to Reno twice a year for their vacations. She is survived by her three sons, William and his wife Julie, Gary and his wife Carole, and Ron Nesbitt; and two grandchildren, Pat Nesbitt and his wife Oksana, and Gina Nesbitt and her son Isaac. The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Adult Family Home for their loving and compassionate care for the last 28 months. A “Celebration of Life” will begin at 11:00AM on November 2, 2010, at the Shadle Park Presbyterian Church 5508 N. Alberta St. in Spokane. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Merry Glen Home and School in Spokane or to Shadle Park Presbyterian Church.
