Esther May Jensen (age 88) entered into rest on November 10, 2010. She was born in Grand Forks, ND on June 8, 1922 to John and Laura Jensen. Esther married Dan Jensen in 1940. A 35 year resident of Spokane, she worked as a waitress, cook, and in retail sales before retiring in 1980. Esther loved bingo, going to the casino, fishing, and collected elephants. To me, she went by “Mom” and I loved her dearly. I, Margaret her daughter, helped to keep her in her home until almost the end. She loved her family, friends, pets, and home. Over the last few years, she relied a lot on her beautiful friends here in Spokane. Without their help and love, Mom would have never been able to live this long and be happy at home. Friends called daily, came to see her, and baked her cookies. Lorna, her companion and caregiver was priceless. Without Lorna’s help as a friend to my mother, Mom would have never had the quality of life and love she had, ever. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Maggie) Jensen and her companion, Glanda Hensley. Visitation will be Saturday, November 20th from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at Riplinger Funeral Home 4305 N. Division Spokane, WA. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the funeral home, with private interment following the service.
