Charles "Chuck" E. Rigsby

August 31, 1937 — November 18, 2010

Rigsby, Charles E. (age73) The Rigsby family is saddened to announce that our Beloved father Charles (Chuck) E. Rigsby S/Stg USAF peacefully transitioned to heaven on Monday November 15, 2010. He is now reunited with his wife, Margie, who was the love of his life and preceded him in passing in 2008. Dad was born in Bowling Green Kentucky to Odell and Oma Rigsby on August 31st 1937. He enlisted into the United States Airforce in 1955 and was stationed to Spokane WA. On February 18th 1956 Dad and Mom began their “married life journey”. Being a career service man, Dad and our family traveled the world. We were truly blessed when he returned to us from two Vietnam tours. Dad also served our country in Germany, Goosebay, and several other bases in the U.S. Thank you Dad for your service to our country. You are our Hero! After retirement from the USAF in 1975, he worked at Layrite Concrete, then, in Sales for many years. Dad was an active member in numerous community organizations. He was proud to be a Shriner and he was recognized for the hundreds of hours he volunteered for the children and the hospital. He was also active with the Masons, Scottish Rite, York Lodge, Sadir Khan Grotto, Eagles, Moose Lodge, Elk Lodge and supported several Veteran’s groups. Dad volunteered at the Shriner’s Booth at the Spokane Fair and also prepared popcorn at the Spokane Indians games for many years. Dad was very proud being part of these clubs/organizations that make such a difference in the lives of so many children and families. He had a love for horse racing, playing cards and watching sports. He was also an avid bowler on many leagues. He especially cherished the memories of the yearly Military and National Bowling tournaments in Reno and Vegas with the guys. Dad felt blessed with the friends in his life who were always there for him. A devoted husband, father and Papa to his loving family, he is survived by his seven children, Chuck Rigsby (Terry), Rick Rigsby, Midge Rigsby-Eldredge (Denny), Mike Rigsby (Paula), Bill Rigsby (Margie), Terry Rigsby (Tricia), Debbie Rigsby (Mark); Fifteen Grand Children, Eight Great Grand Children and one very special buddy named Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents Odell and Oma Rigsby. Dad was the fourth of ten children and is survived by his brother Thomas Rigsby and wife Edna along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, kin and friends in Kentucky. He is also survived by his mother in law Marjorie Brunton, sister in law, Beverly Tucker and her five children. Dad will be greatly missed and always and forever loved. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Dad’s honor to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Diabetes Association. A Military Service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery on Thursday December 2nd at 1:00pm. A Memorial service will be held at the Downtown Spokane Masonic Temple on Thursday, December 2nd at 3:00pm with a reception to follow. Chaplain Harold Tucker officiating and Rose Croix participating.
