Marjorie R. Thompson (Age 95) – Entered into rest on December 15, 2010 in Spokane, WA. Born in Gardena, Idaho, Marjorie lived in the Spokane area for over 67 years. She was employed by the Spokane Public Library system as a Librarian. She was married to Joseph J. Thompson in 1944 and was preceded in death by him in 1990. She would often assist him with bookkeeping at his place of business, Hart & Dilatush Pharmacy. A graduate of Boise High School, Marjorie continued her education at Boise State, the U of Idaho, and the U of Washington where she received a Masters degree in Library. She was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority, the U of Idaho Alumni, PEO, and Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church. Due to the many organizations she and her husband were involved with, they had many opportunities to travel the world together. Marjorie was very active in civic groups throughout her life. She dedicated a great deal of her time working for the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, Washington State Children’s Home Society, Meals on Wheels, Spokane College Women, Deaconess Hospital Gift Shop, the Spokane Lady Lions, WA State Woman’s Pharmaceutical Auxiliary, Friends of 7, the American Heart Association, the Salvation Army and others. Besides her family, Marjorie’s true love was gardening. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Schwahn (Kevin) of Coeur d’Alene, ID; granddaughters, Shelby King (Curtis) of Mullan, ID, and Brandi Rockstrom of Spokane Valley, WA; great-grandsons, Dylan Wilcox and Wyett King of Mullan, Austin Rockstrom and great-granddaughter, Alexus Rockstrom of Spokane Valley. A memorial service will be held to honor Marjorie’s life at a later date. Please, think of her fondly. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the University of Idaho Scholarship Fund or to Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church.
