Albert Materi, 95, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Spokane Veterans Home, where he was thankful for the care and respect that he received. Al was born November 18th, 1926, in Strasburg, North Dakota. Al was the last living member of his family of seven. Al was a proud WWII Veteran and was fortunate to do the Honor Flight in 2010. One of Al’s greatest joys was his yard and that showed in the work and care he put into it. Al took decorating to a whole other level putting on an incredible Christmas display for the community to enjoy especially the children. He had a passion for his Pug Dogs and was an avid Zags Fan. His Catholic Faith brought him great comfort and he was a very giving person. He always had a hard time receiving anything. If anyone needed anything, he would give it, if you talked, he would listen, if you couldn’t do it, he did it or found someone who could. He was a great Son-Brother-Husband-Dad (Father)-Uncle-Grandad and Friend. Al will be missed by all who knew him. Al is survived by his son Gary Materi, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Al was very much loved by his relatives, friends, and co-workers. A Veterans Salute will be held Friday June 3, 2022, at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 9:00 a.m., 21702 West Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA 99022 followed by a Memorial Service at Riplinger Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., 4305 N Division St., Spokane, WA 99207.
