Doris Betty Brooks Doris Betty Brooks passed away peacefully May 10, 2018, in Post Falls, Idaho. Betty was born August 25, 1920, at her family home near Arden, Washington, to Nora Ada (Lee) Skidmore and Everett Arthur Skidmore. Betty attended Orin school, grades 1-8, then Colville High School in 1938. Following High School, Betty attended barber and beautician school in Spokane receiving her certification and State License. Betty married Charles Lind of Addy Washington in the early 1940’s, bearing Jon Charles Lind in 1945 and Michael Craig Lind in 1948. The marriage to Charles ended in divorce in 1952 and she married the Reverend Jefferson H. Smith in Colville in 1957. Reverend Smith passed away in 1980 in Dayton, Washington. Betty relocated to Spokane following Reverend Smith’s passing and later married Everett Brooks in Davenport, Washington. Everett Brooks passed away February 14, 2005 and Betty remained in Davenport, Washington until failing health required relocation to Spokane. Betty was pre-deceased by Charles Lind, Jefferson Smith, Everett Brooks, and, recently, youngest son Michael Craig Lind. She is survived by son, Jon C. Lind (Sue), daughter-in-law (Bonnie), stepchildren Walter, Jerry, and Ron Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Robert Brooks, Janet (Brooks) MacLean, and James Brooks. Betty had several grandchildren, Sean, Mike, Joe, Sarah and Tyler, Josh, Dustin, Brandy, Erin and Brian, and numerous great grandchildren. Betty was a pioneer of Stevens County, Washington, living an eventful life, operating her own Beauty Shop in Colville for many years and was a self-taught trombone player, performing in local bands as well as the Colville High School marching band. She was a very devoted mom and will be greatly missed by us all. A private family service will be held at a later time.Riplinger Funeral Home in Spokane is handling the cremation.
