Our New Year’s baby has left us. Born January 1, 1923, died on November 27th 2018. Our mother died peacefully, following a graceful decline with dementia. She is reunited with the loves of her life, father Louis Mitchell, mother Jewell Mitchell, husband Donald Yoho, husband Earl Stillar, sister Nelda Yates. She was born and raised in Martha, Oklahoma. Mom endured the dust bowl years and learned resourcefulness and resiliency. After graduation from Martha High School, she attended St John’s Nursing School in Tulsa Oklahoma. Returning to Altus, she met and married Donald Yoho. They had three children together, James, Jean and Donna. Mom worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years. The original “Dr. Mom”, she cared for everyone, kids and kittens, patients and puppies, horses and husbands. Ten years after Don’s passing, she married Earl Stillar. They had 22 years together. Mom loved Earl’s children: Cheri, Charlene, Charlie, Denise, Earlene, Lois, Lotta, and Rick. Mom was a Christian, believing in the gospel and grace of Jesus Christ. She will be remembered for her excellent nursing, giving nature and her pies. A memorial has already taken place.
