Dorothy Jane Craig

November 18, 1915 — January 8, 2019

Dorothy Craig was born in Regency ND, to George Barney and Carrie Mabel Kaiser.  She was one of 6 children, and her family eventually moved to Cheney, WA.  After receiving her teaching degree at Cheney Normal School, she moved to Spokane. During her teaching career of over 40 years, Dorothy taught first graders in Inchelium, and Arlington, Linwood and Balboa schools in Spokane.  She also traveled to Okinawa, Japan and Bitburg, Germany to also teach first graders. Later she helped develop and produce phonics teaching tapes and lessons that were sold by Ideal Co. nationwide. Dorothy was a charter member of Country Homes Christian Church which began in 1958.  During her many years there, she worked as a choir director, pianist, organist, Sunday School teacher, Worship Committee chairman and various other positions.  She was one of the early and longtime teachers of the English as a Second Language School (E.S.L.), which is celebrated its 40th year at C.H.C.C.  She also delighted in providing flowers of many kinds for the church sanctuary for many years. She enjoyed traveling with her family, supported her grandchildren at sporting events, and often tended her beautiful rose garden in her yard.  She was an avid game player who loved to play cards and dice games with her son and grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Daryl Triplett (Carol); 2 granddaughters, Suzun Kaiser and Diana Putnam (Jason); 4 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  Also, among her survivors are numerous nephews and their families. The family wishes to thank Rockwood on Hawthorne for their years of care and kindness. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N Wall, Spokane, WA.  A reception will follow. Memory gifts for Dorothy can be made to Country Homes Christian Church, or the E.S.L. School at Country Homes Christian Church.
