George W. Swannack

May 24, 1943 — November 12, 2022

George Swannack was born in Walla Walla, Washington. He grew up in Spokane, Wa going to Finch Elementary and Shadle Park High School. He attended SCC and graduated with an Associate Drafting Degree. It was at SCC where he met his future wife MaryLynn. He worked at Boyle Fuel, Inland Asphalt, and Acme paving. He was a proud member of Local 690 Teamsters. He was a strong advocate in negotiating for wage and benefits for all his fellow workers. He worked in a Shell Oil Training program for maintenance on automobiles. In the program he learned to be a meticulous mechanic on his cars. His cars were always kept ultra clean. George was a hard worker and took pride, always doing his best. He enjoyed snowmobiling, ATV rides, water skiing, jet skiing and boating. He was very active in the Loon Lake Moose Lodge, the LL property owners, the LL dock demolition, and drove the truck for the LL food Pantry. He cherished having wonderful friendships throughout his life. In retirement he enjoyed taking cruises with MaryLynn and several friends, they were a highlight in his senior years. Loon Lake was a central gathering place for family reunions, work parties, and association meetings. The best part of living at the Lake was watching the grandchildren in the water. The family loved to swim, including the dogs. As an avid dog lover, he had eight water dogs through the years and loved to see them swim and retrieve. George was very proud of his daughters and their families. He deeply loved all 5 granddaughters. Thank you to the staff at Hospice of Spokane, and particular to his nurse Lynda, the bath lady, Mary and social worker Maggie. They were like family and helped care for George with his dementia.Thank you to the Loon Lake Fire Department for their quick response to help with George. George is survived by his wife, MaryLynn, daughters Kelley(Ross), Karen(Jason), granddaughters Kate, Grace, Paige, Ava, Piper, his sister Nancy(Al), Eric(Shannon), Kirsten(Yiannos).
