Heather Diane (Marts) Hurley May 30, 1972-June 30, 2021 Our sweet Heather, age 49, went to be with Jesus on June 30, 2021. Heather was born May 30, 1972, in Apple Valley, CA to Ken and Wendy Marts. She lived in California until the age of 6 when her family moved to Oregon, where she spent her childhood. Heather lived in Sheridan, OR and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1990. Heather ran cross country and track and field. She was part of her school’s spirit club and was even the mascot one year. She loved drama and was part of the school’s drama club as well. Heather was also actively involved in her youth church. During her involvement in her youth church and spending summers after high school working in the youth camp, she met the love of her life, Michael Hurley. They married in April 1993 in McMinnville, Oregon. They had two beautiful children, Christian (26) and Alexis (23). They moved to Spokane, WA in 2005, where she lived until her passing. While her kids were young, Heather was a devoted mother and spent her time enjoyed raising her children. In 2012 she decided to pursue a career outside of her home and received her associates degree from SFCC. She joined the Garry Middle School office team after her graduation where she continued to work, throughout her illness, faithfully, until two weeks before her passing. Heather loved working. She developed incredible relationships with her coworkers. They stated that you knew Heather was there long before you could see her because you could hear her laugh across the building. Following her love and passion for drama and singing, she actively participated in Ham on Regal for 3 years. Heather was also involved in the worship team at Southside Christian Church until her cancer treatments made it too difficult. Heather loved God and had an incredible faith. Her faith was the foundation for everything; her outlook on life, her hope for the future, and what may come tomorrow. She had incredible confidence that her God had plans to bless her, not crush her, and multiply her lands and not destroy her. It was this confidence that gave her the strength to say, “I’m done fighting, and I’m ready to let God do what He’s going to do.” Heather embodied all things good, which made her the genuine person she was. She loved people and accepted everyone and everything for what they were. No matter what challenges she faced, she had a supreme confidence that everything was going to be ok. Heather was always happy. Her laughter was contagious. She was so easy to love and quick to love those in her life. Heather accepted her rare cancer diagnosis 7 years ago with faith, strength, and grace. She never complained and lived her life to the fullest, even to the very end. Her determination to live her best allowed her to see her daughter get married, go to Hawaii with her husband and mother, and visit Cabo San Lucas with her in-laws…. all in the last two months of her life. She was an example of how to live life, and how to live it well. God could not have given us a better gift. Heather was truly the best. Heather is survived by her husband Mike, her children Christian and Alexis (Nathan), Mother Wendy, brothers Shawn (Aimee), Christian (Rebecca), her brothers-in-law John (Tricia), Josh (Sarah), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Heather is preceded in death by her Father Ken, her son Austin, and her grandparents Tierney and Marts.
