Howie Brant

In Loving Memory of Howard “Howie” W. Brant, a Beloved Chef, Devoted Hunter, and Loving Father It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Howard “Howie” W. Brant, a cherished husband, doting father, and talented chef, who left this world far too soon at the age of 43. Howie departed unexpectedly on July 26, 2023, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.

Born on July 20, 1980, in Spokane, WA, Howie was an instant friend to all who knew him. From a young age, he started cooking with his Nana which led him to pursue a career as a chef. Howie was always down for a great BBQ rub, Thai food (even if his wife hated it) or anything with peanut butter – preferably a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. He could cook just about anything you asked for and took great enjoyment in the creative process and watching others enjoy their meal.

Beyond his culinary prowess, Howie had a profound love for the great outdoors. He found solace and joy in being in nature, spending countless hours hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Whether it was the thrill of the chase (which didn’t happen often) or the tranquility of casting a line, these activities allowed him to connect with the world around him and find contentment.

However, above all else, Howie's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jodi Brant, and a loving father to their beautiful daughter, Samantha Brant. His face would light up whenever he was in their presence, and his love for them knew no bounds. Howie was a pillar of strength and support, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement, usually in the form of a “dad joke”. His unwavering dedication to his family was a testament to the incredible man he was.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Howie is survived by his mother, Mindy Spencer, and his siblings, Doug and Eddy Spencer. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his warm smile, infectious laughter, and genuine kindness.

Howie wasn't one for formal events so I invite you to come as you are and enjoy a place he loved to wander, eat some food, have a drink and share some memories with those who loved him.
