Joanne May Anderson

February 7, 1935 – December 28, 2024

It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Joanne May Anderson, who left this world on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her children. Born in Rockford, Illinois on February 7, 1935, Joanne lived a life filled with warmth and kindness that touched everyone she met.

Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Andy Anderson on June 11, 1955. Together, they moved to Spokane, Washington, where Andy was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base.

As a devoted mother, Joanne also pursued her dream of modeling and worked for Dresden Modeling Agency in the mid 1970’s. She later worked for Crescent Spices and other distribution companies, traveling throughout the WA, ID, and MT regions.

Joanne passed on her love of baking to her children. She enjoyed playing Gin Rummy, Bridge, traveling, and always took great care in ensuring her outfits were impeccably coordinated. She was an avid UW Husky football fan and stayed active and engaged with life.

In 2010, after losing her husband, Joanne found a new chapter of happiness with Bob Garrison. In her later years, she traveled extensively, embracing new experiences and making lasting memories with loved ones.

Joanne enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hosted countless gatherings, where the more, the merrier! She loved entertaining, offering abundant food, and enjoying long afternoons by the pool.

Joanne was a remarkable woman whose impact will forever be felt by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but remembered for the love and joy she shared with those around her.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Golden Horizon for the compassionate care they provided Joanne in her final years. Your kindness and support meant the world to us.

Joanne is survived by her children Cynthia (Anderson) Brandt, Linda (Tom) Hudson, Sheryl (Doug) Gonwick, and Wayne (Ami Evermon) Anderson. She is survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2025. Details will be shared closer to the date.
