GOWDEY, John Warren (age 93) - Passed away on August 19, 2018 after a fall and breaking his hip in Federal Way, WA. John was born in Kalispell, MT on June 16, 1925 to Blanche Naomi Gowdey (Edmonson) and Alex William Gowdey. The family included 3 boys: Robert, Roger and John. John attended high school at Whitefish, MT, then enlisted into the Army Air Corp; where he worked as a machinist, stationed in England, and Germany, after the war ended. He met Eva May Means at Galena (Fairchild) after the war and they married on June 29, 1947 in Spokane, WA. John worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern for 40 years. They raised 2 children, Craig and Patti on the North Side. There they resided until 2016, when he and Eva moved to Milton, WA. John was known as Warren to his mother, which caused confusion amongst the nephews and nieces. He was a skilled woodworker creating wonderful furniture, toys and knick knacks that family and friends enjoyed. He enjoyed gardening, growing both vegetables and flowers, along with a very green lawn. John is survived by his son, Craig W Gowdey (Konnie Jo Gowdey)(Boise, ID); daughter, Patti L Gowdey (Federal Way, WA); grandchildren, Logan J Gowdey (Cam Addicott)(New York, NY); Morgan M Gowdey (Boise, ID); step grandchildren Shelby Jordan (Evan Farmer)(Sumner, WA) and Mandy Sprague (Brandon Sprague)(Auburn, WA); 5 step great grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Mildred Repp (Colfax, WA); a passel of nephews and nieces,and unofficially adopted kids, Pat & Ed Jensen. He was predeceased by his wife, Eva (December 2017); brothers, Robert Gowdey (April 2014), Roger Gowdey (May 2005), and son-in-law, Rudy Ploskonka (May 2018). A graveside service and interment will be conducted by Pastor Glenn Kennedy on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery, 5200 W Wellesley, Spokane WA. A reception will follow at Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N Howard, Spokane.
