Karen Grace Mahar

MAHAR, Karen Grace (Age 78) – Passed away peacefully in her home on June 2, 2022. She was born on October 29, 1943 to George and Grace Beck in Berwyn, IL. Karen moved to Spokane, WA with her parents in 1971. She enjoyed a long career of over 30 years with Primera Blue Cross. Karen married William E. Mahar on April 12, 1980 they enjoyed 21 years together until his untimely death in 2001. She loved all of God’s creatures always having pets as well as feeding the birds and squirrels. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and her sister, Linda Palac. She is survived by her twin brother, Kenneth Beck and his family; her niece, Deborah Elmore and her family; nephew, Jeff Palac and his wife; and nephew, Steven Palac. Karen has four step daughters, Terry Russo, Christine, Kathy and Jeanie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., Spokane, WA 99218. A reception will follow the service.
