Kay Pierce, 77, of Chattaroy, Washington, daughter of Eugene and Lora Shadowen passed away December 12, 2024.
Growing up in the country, she was naturally a lover of the outdoors. She was very involved in 4-H and excelled at school, which allowed her to skip a grade. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1964.
Throughout her life she enjoyed many hobbies such as canning and baking breads. She taught herself to make candles and potpourri, which she sold at Green Bluff in the fall for several years. She was a talented seamstress, making costumes, clothing, and formal dresses for her children. She'd perfected her homemade vanilla ice cream (which won her 1st place in contests), and she was an excellent cook!
She loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays and always made them special.
She was also a great friend, her door was always open for a neighbor to stop by for a chat or a glass of wine.
Kay retired from the Colbert Post Office where she was a rural mail carrier. After retiring she enjoyed spending time at the family river property on the Pend Oreille River.
She was an incredible strong woman and is deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Lora; her daughter Pamela; and her life partner Jim.
She is survived by her brother Alan; her four children: Kimberly, Lindsey, Melody, and Cody. Eight grandchildren: Sierra, Meegan, Eldon, Elisa, Kahnor, Talhon, Stetson, and Lila; and two great-grandchildren: Ryker and Waylen.
