Magna Johanna Patterson Knaggs

January 1, 1918 — September 16, 2018

Magna died Sunday, September 16th 2018 surrounded by family and friends.  She was born January 1, 1918 on her family’s homestead in Chinook, Montana to Carl and Anna Larson.  Her faith in God and her remarkable Norwegian family formed her early years in Libby, Montana.  She moved to Spokane to complete High School at John R. Rogers while working as an usherette at the Liberty Theater.  She married Ray H. Patterson in 1940 and they raised one son, Dennis.  After Ray returned from service in WW II they resided along the Little Spokane River until his death in 1988.  Magna and Ray were proud, active and charter members of St. Luke Lutheran Church and were involved in community volunteer service as well.  She married Clyde Knaggs in 1992 living in Deer Lake until his death in 2001. She lived at Fairwood Retirement Village for the past 13 years where her neighbors became her good friends.  She is survived by Dennis (Pauline); grandsons Brian (Tina) and their children Erik and Ashley; grandson Gregg and his children Cole and Paige; preceded in death by her grandson Jeffrey in 1988.  She was blessed with four loving brothers, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Magna’s family is grateful for the dedicated service from the staff at Fairwood Assisted Living, Family Home Care, Horizon Hospice and the loving support from so many at St Luke Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 21, 10:00 AM at St Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 N. Division, Spokane.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Luke Lutheran Church.
