Marjorie Lucille Paulson was born on September 13, 1927, to Emanuel & Nellie Paulson in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was the 8th child with 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
In 1938 one of Marge’s brothers passed away, but that led the whole family to the Lord as their Savior. She was baptized along with her mother and two brothers. Marge and Dewey met through church and in 1951 Marge married Dewey Hanson. They made their homes in Detroit Lakes, MN, Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN and Spokane Valley, WA before moving to the Deer Park area in 1992.
Marge and Dewey had 5 children, 3 girls, Deborah (1954), Laurie (1956), Jean (1956), and 2 boys, Tom (1960), and David (1964). They also had 22 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
From a very young age, Marge loved to sing. She sang with her family and especially her older sister, Blanche, even singing on a local radio station. She also played the guitar and mandolin.
One of Marge’s greatest joys was being a grandma. She spent a lot of time caring for grandchildren, taking them places, teaching them, and maybe most importantly always having cookies baked and ready for them to eat!
Marge loved being a homemaker. She created a wonderful home environment for her children and later her grandchildren. She loved to garden, read, do embroidery or other handwork, decorate her home inside and out, and bake and cook for everyone who was at her home. But most of all, she loved family. She was surrounded and supported by all her family in her last years of life.
Dewey and Marge moved to Fairwood Retirement in July 2012, where they enjoyed many good years. Becoming a widow in November of 2023 was a difficult time after being married to Dewey for 72 years. She lived alone at Fairwood until November, 2024 and then moved to assisted living at Aspen Quality Care. Marge passed away quickly in her room at Aspen on Monday, February 24, 2025 after having a good day that included lunch from Wendy’s, ice cream and custard—all favorites of hers. We are all thankful as a family for the great memories we are left with but most of all the hope we all have of seeing her again in heaven.
Marge is survived by all five of her children and their spouses, Deborah (Rob), Laurie (Rick), Jean (Dana), Tom (Carrie), David (Kim) and two sisters, Mary Bosworth and Linda Sanders.
