Mary Kathleen O’Toole 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Kathleen O’Toole, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who unexpectedly passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 61, after a brief illness. Born in Ontario, Oregon, on February 3, 1964, to Dan and Maureen O’Toole, she was raised in Richland and lived in Spokane after graduating from Gonzaga University in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration.

Mary was known for her infectious laughter, unwavering kindness, and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Kim Kristensen; her son, Ryan; her stepson, Karl Kristensen (Alyssa); her grandchildren, Addy, Cash, and Elus; her mother, Maureen O’Toole; her sister, Theresa (Randy); her brother, Marty (Maureen); and many fun and entertaining nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Dan O’Toole. Mary worked for forty years at Inland Imaging, beginning as an assistant during college and rising to the position of Facilities Manager.

Outside of work, Mary enjoyed attending Catholic Mass, scrapbooking, watching cooking shows, and trying numerous new recipes. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She had a collection of Old World Christmas ornaments and lighted Santa Clauses that would be the envy of any collector. She was an enthusiastic Gonzaga basketball supporter. For every game, a ZAG banner was placed in the window (no visitors allowed to interrupt her viewing!), and a continuous text message stream ensued between her family members, providing a live critique of the game—it was always interesting. She loved the Mariners and was a long-time, devoted fan. Above all, Mary enjoyed being a grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them in a special way that only a grandmother can.

Mary was a special person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The world was a better place with her in it.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm. (A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 pm, prior to the service.) The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities Spokane in lieu of flowers.
