Mary Elsie Strom, age 88, passed away peacefully at the Spokane Hospice House on March 11, 2021, following a massive stroke. She was born November 7, 1932 in Ojo Feliz, New Mexico to Juan and Macedonia Cordova. She married the love of her life, Andrew Strom July 7, 1952 who preceded her in death along with their son, Stephen “Pablo” Strom. Mary is survived by her sister, Margie Thomas, and four brothers Tony, Dan, George and Alex Cordova. Her children Terry Olson, Lonnie Strom, Peggy Smithgall and Margaret “Pepe” McCormick (John). Many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. At the age of 84, Mary retired from Providence Sacred Heart after an admirable 42 years. She touched many lives throughout her time at the hospital. She was known for spreading her love and kindness to whomever she came across. She made it a priority to visit all of the cancer patients so she could pray with them. She was a big believer in The Lord and the power of prayer. Mary had this incredible way of making everyone feel abundantly loved. Her light was bright and impossible to miss. Mary was a lover of the Seattle Seahawks and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. If there was a game on, she was watching it. In her past-time, she enjoyed bowling and was on many leagues through the years. She adored her cats and there wasn’t ever a time when she didn’t have at least one. We were blessed to learn countless lessons from Mary. Among them; under all circumstances choose love, kindness, and forgiveness. Never hurry and never worry. Mary’s beautiful, spunky and bright spirit will deeply be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the South Hospice House for the love and exceptional care they displayed for Mary.
