Michael Dale Dingfield was born in Tacoma, WA on March 14, 1945. He passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA on July 8, 2023.
Mike was kind of a loner throughout his life. He was an avid reader. He would walk across the town of Ephrata to the library and come home with an armload of books; only to repeat the cycle each week. He was the fastest walker, the other kids couldn't keep up with him. He'd stop at the drugstore on the way for a limeade to share with his little sister; then he'd pinch her straw so she couldn't drink.
He was always the one to come up with new games to play. It was always so exciting to hear, "Mike's invented a new game."
Mike was always good at math and as a teenager, he used to go around with a slide rule in his pocket. Yes, he was a bonafide nerd.
He graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in History. Later, he said that he graduated knowing a lot of fun facts but with no job skills. He went back to school and got a degree in Math with a minor in computer science and became a systems analyst at Boeing.
Mike has been retired for a number of years. He's spent his time taking care of his parents, sending gifts to his nieces and nephews, rebuilding computers and writing a book; "A Black Sheep in Cattle Country." Yes, he's a published author.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Margaret Dingfield, his brother, Paul Dingfield and nephew Mark Dingfield. He is survived by his brothers, Richard (Dianna) and Jeffrey Dingfield, his sister, Jane Van Order (Lee), his sister-in-law, Margie Copeland, nephews Nolan Campbell (Paula) and Matthew Dingfield (Amy) and nieces Meredith Peterson (Clark) and Melissa Liu (Kevin).
