Montgomery “Monty” Correll died on October 8 at his home in Spokane. He was 63. Monty was born in Spokane where he spent his early years. His family moved to Kirkland when he was a teenager and he graduated from Juanita High School. He attended the University of Washington and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. He married his wife, Nancy, in 1979. He spent most of his working years in the grocery industry. He worked for many years for Nestle. Halloween was a favorite time for him as he enjoyed seeing the happy smiles of children as he handed out full-size Nestle candy bars. Traveling was also a great joy for him. In his later years, he and Nancy traveled to many historic places in the United States and made several trips to Europe. Monty retired in 2016 and returned to Spokane to enjoy a slower pace of life and to continue traveling, his most recent trips were to Germany in 2016 and England in 2017. Monty is survived by his wife Nancy, his father, Thomas Correll, his sisters, Jody Benson, Shelley Echols, Carrie Fahndrich, and Heidi Perrault, his brother, Michael Correll, their spouses, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Janice Correll, and sister, Val Kalar. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 1:30 pm at Assumption Catholic Church in Spokane.
