Patrick Jay Gallagher of Colbert, formerly Colville, WA. passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018. Born in Iron River, Michigan on June 28, 1935, proud son of James and Helen Gallagher. He attended Iron River schools where he was noted as an outstanding athlete. Foregoing a football scholarship at Marquette, he chose instead to play for the Marquette basketball team. His junior year he transferred to Michigan Tech where he also played basketball, becoming team captain his senior year. He was noted as "one of the top defensive men in the lineup, able to score with astounding accuracy." Pat graduated from Michigan Tech in 1957 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the US Forest Service in the Klamath, Payette and Salmon National Forests before heading to Colville, where after a long and distinguished career, he retired in April 1994. Pat is survived by Linda, his wife of 55 years, son Robert (Chantel) daughters Carol (John) Fredricks and Karen (Tim) Lewis, sister, Kelly Gallagher West, and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Helen, brother Gerald (Jerry) and sisters Mary Ellen and Sharon. A small celebration of life will be planned for the family at a later date.
