Paul Daniel Cohn passed away in his sleep on the morning of October 19, 2024 following a long illness. He was 88. Paul was born to Elizabeth Oppenheimer and Daniel J Cohn in Portland, Oregon. After graduating with undergraduate and master’s degrees in engineering from Oregon State University, he took his first job in Southern California. He moved his family in the mid 1960s to Richland, WA, where he was a nuclear engineer at Hanford. In 1983, Paul relocated to Bozeman, MT and lived there until about 2009, when he moved to Chattaroy, WA to be closer to his daughter and her family.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joann Cazden and his daughter Melinda. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Shaffer, son-in-law Jeff Shaffer, his grandchildren Emerson, Griffin and Marcella (Shaffer), and his daughter Jill Cohn.
Paul was an avid skier and enjoyed hiking, backpacking, playing poker and mushroom hunting. He was most proud of his cats, the three books that he wrote and his board role in a biotech start-up company.
Friends and family will gather at Riplinger Funeral home, Spokane, WA on Saturday, October 26th from 1pm-3pm to remember Paul.
