In loving Memory ~ Reverend Bill Dropko

A loving husband, a fun uncle, beloved pastor, chaplain, and mentor, Reverend Bill Dropko, 86, went to be with the Lord on December 13th, 2024, surrounded by family.

Billy was born in a small town in Canada, to William and Ruth Dropko. Known for his great sense of humor and infectious spirit, Billy believed that everything in life should be fun. His lightheartedness and charm were evident from a young age. As a young man, Billy moved to California to attend Southern California Bible College, where he met his beautiful wife, Judy. With his boyish charm, he would often kick the back of her chair in class to get her attention—and it worked. They married in 1965, and together, they dedicated the next 60 years to serving others with compassion, love, and steadfast faith.

Billy’s passion for ministry extended far beyond the pulpit, impacting lives in churches, hospitals, prisons, and communities across the region. As the Senior Pastor at Greenacres Fellowship, he guided people closer to the Lord through his inspiring sermons and his joyful accordion playing. As a police chaplain, he provided support to officers and brought hope to inmates through his prison outreach. As a hospital chaplain, he offered comfort to countless patients and their families, bringing strength and peace during challenging times. Additionally, as a coach for the Special Olympics ice skating team, Billy inspired confidence in his athletes with his unwavering kindness and enthusiasm.

An avid sportsman, Billy loved ice skating, hockey, and golf. He shared these passions with his nieces, nephews, and many others, teaching not only the skills of the game but also the joy of participation. Whether gliding across the ice, rollerblading through empty parking lots, teeing off on the golf course, or cheering on his favorite hockey team, Billy’s enthusiasm was contagious. His love for life, people, and humor drew many to become good friends.

Billy is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his dear sister-in-law, Diana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish the great memories he left behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Dropko.

A small service to honor Billy’s life and legacy will be held at Greenacres Christian Fellowship on December 29th at 1:00pm. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate his memory and the many lives he touched.
