Richard "Dick" Atkinson

August 7, 1940 — July 11, 2023

Dick was born in Spokane, WA, on August 7, 1940, and passed away July
11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents James Lloyd Atkinson
and Rosella Tipke Atkinson. He lived on Green Bluff most of his life and
graduated from Mead High School. He operated a trucking business from
his home and eventually Mead, WA, working on road construction, hauling
logs, mine ores, and landscape materials. He farmed on Green Bluff and
was a member of the Green Bluff Grange. In summers, he enjoyed
spending time at Loon Lake and Priest Lake with his children, grandsons
and friends-- boating, hiking, huckleberry picking and water skiing. In the
winter, it was snow skiing and snowmobiling. He also spent a few winters
traveling to Arizona with the motorhome and enjoyed hiking and exploring
the desert. He is survived by his wife Trudy, son Jim Atkinson (Marnette),
daughter Gwen Welch (Steve), grandsons Kellogg Atkinson, Laurence
Atkinson, Dylan Atkinson and Spencer Welch, his sister Jacque McGowan,
his uncle Frank Atkinson, niece Kelli Shannon (Tom), nephews Mike
Dennis (Marjie), David Dennis (Nichole) and several cousins. He was
preceded in death by niece Tammy Ebright (Hubert). 
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Association or a charity
of your choice.
