Robert T. Greene, Jr.

8/12/1948 – 10/28/2024

It is with a mix of sadness and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of our dear brother, Bob into his eternal rest on October 28, 2024, in Spokane, Washington.

Born and raised in Spokane, Bob graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1966, where he was a drum major for the LC Tiger Band, a varsity basketball player, and on the golf team. Bob graduated from Whitworth College, then obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, and a Master of Education degree from the University of Louisville.

As a teacher, a coach, a social justice advocate, a master gardener and an investment/insurance advisor, Bob was always eager to support others in their learning. He quietly reveled in the accomplishments of others, especially of his siblings, who remember with great fondness Bob’s own accomplishments growing up, as a musician, drum major, golfer, and water skier, boasting the largest rooster tail anyone has ever seen!

Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was the caregiving he provided to our dear mother, ‘Nammy’, until her death at age 97, for which we all remain forever grateful.

Later in life, Bob became a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane, where he sang in the choir, and played the handbells, finding much consolation in the liturgy and sacred music of the Catholic church. He was fascinated with learning about angels and the panoply of heavenly hosts that help to bring healing and hope into our earthly pilgrimage.

He is survived by his son, Barry William Boucher Greene of Louisville, Kentucky, his sister, Mimi Greene and brothers Tom Greene, Jamie Greene, and Jon Greene. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert T. Greene, Sr. and Jeane Greene, and his sister Jonny Joyce Guenther.

The family held a graveside service on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, Spokane, Washington – Bob’s favorite place. May he rest in peace surrounded by angels.
