Shirley Mitchell

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Shirley Ann Mitchell passed away peacefully and with family by her side on the evening of June 5, 2023. Mom was born in Anacortes, WA on June 3, 1927. Our big wish was to see her make it to her 96th birthday and she did it! 
She was preceded in death by her parents John L. Gunderson and Jessie B. Gunderson (Middaugh); her loving sister Marjorie Blackwood; husband Arthur H. Mitchell; her son Daniel F Mitchell; and her daughter Janie Tolman. 
Mom was fiercely independent and was often referred to as "real feisty" but she was also very loving and caring. She was an avid reader, crochetter and loved to travel; especially to the Olympic Peninsula where she had many friends and relatives. Mom always had pets and leaves behind her beloved dog "Mimi" and cats "Taffy" and "Princess." 
She is survived by her son David; daughter Patty (Greg); and Debbie (John); her beloved granddaughter Margie; and granddaughters Julie, Sara Lee, and Sarah Gerber. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mom will always be in our hearts and will always be missed! She rests in Heaven now with her loved ones. God Bless.
Viewing will be held from 12PM to 1pm on Wed. Jun 14 at Sunrise Church of Christ, 4718 N Ash St, in Spokane. Funeral Service will begin at 1pm. A private burial will be held the following day at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
