Thomas Dale Cummins

September 29, 1925 — October 4, 2018

CUMMINS, Thomas D. (Age 93) – Entered into rest on October 4, 2018 in Spokane, WA.  Born in Tum Tum, WA, he was a lifelong area resident.  He attended Valleyford and Lewis and Clark High Schools. Entered the US Army serving in the 65th Signal Corps. During his wartime service he was immersed in the “Battle of the Bulge”. As he was training in Missouri he happened to meet a pretty girl from Indiana. Shortly after, they got married in Georgia before he shipped out to Europe. He stayed married to his “pretty little bride” almost 74 years.  Following his military service, Tom went to work for the railroad.  He retired as a long serving Conductor for the Great Northern and BNSF in 1985.  Tom was a life member of the Boyer Mountain Masonic Lodge #134 and also a life member of the Scottish Rite Bodies.  He was also a member of OES, Bethlehem Chapter #87, Life member of VFW Post 1474, O.R.C.B., and the Fertile Valley Grange.  He enjoyed hiking, traveling and exploring off the beaten path, jewelry making, fishing, camping and gardening. Tom is survived by his wife, Betty, at their Chattaroy home of 60 years; sons, Dale Cummins (Mickey) and Paul Cummins (Lisa); 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son, Steven (Chris); and one grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N. DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 4066, Spokane, WA 99220-0066.
