Virgil was born to Walter & Josephine Jackson in Napa, California on June 20, 1946. He had two older siblings, Vernon Jackson and Mildred Keen, who pre-deceased him, as well as his parents. He grew up in Napa and graduated in 1964. He was in a tragic accident while serving in the Army National Guard at 19 years old. The accident nearly cost him his life. After a long recovery, he met the love of his life, Donna Bailey on a parade float in 1967 and they were married in November 1967. Donna had a beautiful daughter Chrissy and the three of them moved to Benicia, California. The family grew when they had daughter Kellie Booher (Jackson) and son, Mike Jackson, and they settled in Napa, California until 1978 when the family moved to Spokane, Washington.
Virgil was a master Journeyman Machinist and worked at a couple companies before being hired by Kaiser Trentwood where he retired in 2002. They purchased an acre lot on the Pend Oreille River in the early 90’s, where family and friends gathered for fun and fishing. They ultimately sold their house and property to buy their dream farm in Springdale in 2001, where they lived until 2019. Virgil and Donna put so much into remodeling the old house and making it their home, but in 2003, Donna suffered a major stroke at age 57 that resulted in her left-side paralysis and inability to care for herself. Virgil then went back to work so he could provide her the care and medical benefits necessary until he permanently retired in 2018 at the age of 72. Virgil and Donna were married 56 years before she passed away in September 2023. Her death devastated Virgil after losing the love of his life. Virgil’s own health declined rapidly following her death.
Virgil leaves behind his daughter Chrissy Anderson (Rick), daughter Kellie Booher (Russell), son Mike Jackson (Jenette), granddaughter Haley Smith, grandson Travis Booher, granddaughter Jacee Hanson (Nick), grandson Hunter Smith, grandson Gunner Jackson, granddaughter Sierra Winckler (Dean), granddaughter Jordyn Jackson, great grandson Brady and great granddaughter Rylie, great granddaughter Jaeyln, great grandson Beau and 1 additional great grandbaby on the way.
